What can you say about the Alps? Words do very little to convey the feeling of being high up in the red and white trails of the Wanderweg, coursing through avalanche debris, camping next to her lakes, or taking your fill from a snowmelt stream. This was a Post PCT Recovery in a way. Some people call it “Hiker Rehab”. You don’t always know exactly how to land after a thru hike so many people just keep walking. We logged about 500 miles in the Alps in 2019. From multi-day excursions where we camped behind farm houses (before the cows were called back to the hills) to train rides that dropped us next to gondolas strung high into the clouds. Every outing was a photographer’s paradise and the silent summer nights were blanketed in silence and stars.
